Reproduction and conservation  seeds

THEMATIC

To know  seed production bases and being able to produce own seeds by natural methods.

To know  the basics of seed production to achieve  a seed garden without hybridization (with and without material).

Participate in the renewal of evolving biodiversity that is more resistant to hazards and diseases.

GOALS :

  • Know the law and regulations on seeds.

  • Study and understanding of the modes of reproduction of plants: from sowing to seed.

  • The different families and classification: species and inter-fertility (pollination).

  • Selection criteria: the seed carrier, planting distances, genetic homogeneity.

  • Diseases and Parasites.

  • The equipment, the logbook, the storage.

  • Example of a typical seed garden.

  • Monitoring and assessment of individual projects.

  • Practical interventions.

  • Seed harvest: degree of maturity, drying, different seed extraction techniques, conservation.
