GOALS :

  • Adapt the size to the needs of the trees.

  • Choose your tools.

  • Transform, use waste from pruning.

  • Sterilize its tools, clean them, maintain them.

  • Choose the right time, the influences of the moon, dormancy and awakening of plants.

  • Evaluate the workload and maintenance of your garden.

Training program

DAY 1- Information on sizing, its principles and practices

  • 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m .: Theory

- Tools of size, use, precautions for use.
- The different sizes: soft intaglio, shaping size, folding.
- Choose the right time, the influences of the moon, dormancy and awakening of plants.
- Planning, preparing logistics, equipment.
- Notions of permaculture, agroecology, agroforestry, the forest garden (food forest).

- Case study: pruning organization in an avocado and aged citrus orchard

  of 30 years, pilot site in permaculture and agroecology of the Listin'Core Association in

  Appietto.

  • 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m .: Practical work

- In the field: visit of orchards, case studies on large, medium and small trees.

- Initiation to the different sizes: intaglio, shaping size, folding.

- Initiation to the functioning of the different tools.

  • 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m .: End of the day

- Debriefing, exchange.

DAY 2 - Forest garden concepts / pruning practice

  • 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m .: Theory  

- Notions of permaculture, agroecology, agroforestry, the forest garden (food forest).
- Choose the right species according to your space and your needs.

- The different trees in a garden, the different canopies, the advantages of trees in

  function of  their potentials, their locations, their benefits.

  • 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m .: Practical work

- Practice pruning on fruit trees.
- Tool maintenance, cleaning, sterilization, sharpening, storage.

  • 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m .: End of the day

- Assessment of training, exchanges.
